More than a century
of commitment
Our
ministry began in 1886 with an impassioned plea by Henry Palmblad,
a city missionary in Chicago. He worked with the church to create
the Home of Mercy, an all-purpose refuge that housed a hospital
on the first floor, a home for the aged on the second and an orphanage
on the third.
Evolving
to meet needs
Over
the years, we have transformed with the times and expanded our services.
Hospitals
aid the sick and comfort the dying. Adolescent services renew and
nurture children's spirits. Local church ministries assist those
at risk in their communities. Through these efforts and others,
our ministries provide love, comfort and healing.
We
strive to entwine the powers of physical and spiritual wellness.
All of our programs and services nurture the minds, bodies and souls
of people of all ages, ethnicities and social backgrounds.
Times
have changed since we opened our doors at the Home of Mercy. So
has our outreach. New programs, special outreach services, loving
and supportive retirement communities, and family and child services
are all designed to meet the ever-changing needs of our communities.
But one aspect of our ministry hasn't changed -- our commitment
to following the Lord's great command to serve.
